At first, it seemed like any other gruesome crime - a mutilated body discovered in a quiet English village. But this was no ordinary murder and it may not be the last.

George is a troubled thirteen-year-old. As World War Two looms, the drudgery of his life is about to change forever. He meets Mr Simpkins, a reclusive astronomer obsessed with a strange light emitted from a distant star. George begins to suspect the astronomer may have unleashed a vile, murderous creature into the village. A creature not of this Earth.
